Are we at war

War is defined as:

  1. a state of armed conflict between different countries or different groups
  2. a state of competition or hostility between different people or groups
  3. a sustained campaign against an undesirable situation or activity

Toxic relations is defined as:

  1. Unhealthy dynamics can cause stress and harm to the participants.
  2. Very harmful or unpleasant in a pervasive or insidious way

As far as I am aware at this moment in time the UK have no declared armed war in progress and our forces are not on active duty other than domestic patrols and safety. However when you look at definitions 2&3, you think about religions, politics, social media, paparazzi, unions, ideology, families.. I could go on and create a list that everyone could relate to at least one area of life that they feel they are at war with.

Equally you may not be in a toxic relationship with your partner or family but there are quite a lot of us that are in a toxic relationship with something.

Mine are simple, roll off the tip of my tongue and forefront of my mind, I’m at war with my ideology of women in the home and I have a toxic relationship with my email inbox.
